my buddy has a dlink and the ps3 always complains about it not allowing packet fragmentation. although that is mainly used for voice, at least that is what is says. on your ps3 internet connection test do you receive upload and download speeds or does it give a scrolling error at the very bottom? does it state your NAT type? if so, what is it?
sorry that you're a comcast customer, i've heard the worst things about them... data caps? ew wtf get out.
back to topic, you did state modem is ISP provided, can you please list its brand name, model number, fw version? to go in to detail here, my router subnet is 192.168.2.x but to access my ISP provided MODEM its on 192.168.100.1 (ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0 / PacketCable 1.0 Touchstone Telephony Modem HW_REV: 02 VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C. BOOTR: 5.01 SW_REV: 6.1.67A MODEL: TM502G)
it requires no U/P to connect, although i cannot modify any of its settings, only view them.
I would then give static IP to PS3, you did this already though i assume. by giving it a static, within your Router (Dlink) you give it the PS3 MAC address and assign it the static IP, this is the only and proper way you should set static IP. also, make sure your DHCP is not giving a large pool of IP's, mine only gives 192.168.2.100-140 with all of my static between .5 and .20 so that the router never tries to give out static IP's.
I've then placed my static IP into the DMZ of the router. disable router firewall, ddos protection, disable wireless (things to see if it makes it better, wireless can bog a router down). ENABLE UPnP (about NAT type 2 is best on PS3, anything else, contact your ISP)
now, on to some other things, i used to lag really bad, i disabled in game voice from Dust menu, i've disabled XMB notifications from PS3 settings and also UnPlug ALL USB connected to PS3, my official 7.1 Sony headset causes lag (or did, not really tested since new build, i'm scared). i just saw someone post that their Logitech race wheel (usb) is causing major lag.
please make sure to use Wired connection and not wireless. idk what else to say but please report back on your findings if your issues get better and what exactly made them better. |
